Simons completes Tottenham medical ahead of €60m transfer | OneFootball

Xavi Simons has completed his medical at Tottenham Hotspur with the midfielder’s €60m transfer from RB Leipzig due to be announced imminently.

Simons is set to sign for Spurs after the North Londoners reached an agreement with Leipzig on Thursday. The Netherlands international had been a transfer target for Chelsea, but is now headed for Spurs after Thomas Frank’s side pushed for a deal.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that all documents between the two clubs have been signed, while Simons has passed his medical with the Premier League side.

His arrival will be a big boost to Spurs, who have sought additional creativity and goal threat. Heung-min Son has departed for MLS outfit Los Angeles FC, while James Maddison will miss much of the current campaign due to an ACL injury.

Simons arrives in English football after two excellent seasons with Leipzig. The 22-year-old was named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season in 2023/24 and impressed last term despite a downturn in performances from Leipzig.

He scored 10 goals and added seven assists last season in 25 league appearances. The Dutchman had been keen to leave Leipzig after the German side failed to secure European football for this season.
