Sint Truiden’s talented Japanese midfielder set to join Freiburg this summer | OneFootball

Sacha Tavolieri has revealed that Sint Truiden’s talented Japanese midfielder Rihito Yamamoto will be joining Freiburg in the summer. The Belgian club, who have had a fantastic season with Yamamoto playing a key role, have agreed a deal with the German club that lost to Aston Villa in the Europa League final. Now the player and the Bundesliga side are in discussions around personal details.

Yamamoto has been with Sint Truiden since 2023, joining initially on loan from Gamba Osaka before the move was made permanent the following summer. Over three seasons, Yamamoto has played 96 games for the Canaries. However, this past season has been by far his most productive and it is not surprising that Freiburg are keen on signing him. In 38 games he has scored five goals and provided five assists as Sint Truiden finished in the top six and secured a ticket to European football next season.
