Despite having reached a deal with Nike to improve their sponsorship contract, FC Barcelona have not yet generated the required sum to return to the 1:1 rule. However, they can return to this status by selling the VIP seats to a Qatari company, and the Blaugranes are also working to complete the sale of Barca Studios as soon as possible.

In the meantime, SPORT notes that they can also receive a significant amount of funds from a rather unexpected source, i.e., their rights on some of their former players who can change clubs in the coming summer transfer window.

The Catalans are already guaranteed an income of €8 million from this source as West Ham have a €40 million mandatory purchase option on Jean Claire Todibo, the former Barcelona player who is owned by Nice, and on whom Barcelona have 20% right to any future transfer fee.

Oscar Mingueza is also looking likely to change clubs in the next summer transfer window after starting this season with Celta Vigo in excellent fashion. RB Leipzig are interested in him and can pay his €20 million release clause, 50% of which will go to Barcelona. Some Premier League clubs are also keeping an eye on him.

The Catalans also have two such players in the Portuguese league who can bring them a significant amount of money this summer. One of them is Nico Gonzalez, in whom Liverpool and Aston Villa are interested, and who has a €60 million release clause. 40% of any fee paid for him is set to end up in the Blaugranes’ coffers.

The other player is Francisco Trincao, on whom Barcelona have 50% right to any future fee, and who can change clubs if a big club comes calling, even if Sporting do not want to lose him. Bayern have him in their sights.

The midfielder Ilaix Moriba can also bring in a meager amount of €800,000 into Barcelona’s coffers as Celta are determined to exercise their buy option of €8 million on him and the Blaugranes have a 10% right on this fee.

Lastly, the Catalans also have a 50% right on Ez Abde, who can leave Real Betis this summer as he has received significant interest from several European and Saudi Arabian clubs.

Thus, Barcelona will be hoping for transfers of as many of these players as possible, as the incoming funds can come in quite handy for them in their current financial conditions.
