Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner says that he is fully-focused on the challenge of pushing the team towards winning more silverware.

The Red Devils are set to end the 2025/2026 campaign trophyless while recent results both domestically and in Europe have attracted some criticism.

When speaking to the media ahead of this weekend’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion, Manchester United boss Skinner said that he continues to give everything in a bid to evolve the team and to enable them to push for more silverware.

“We are fully-focused on getting the team where we want it to be and the reality is, we haven’t finished the job yet,” Skinner said. “I’m whole-heartedly [working] to put our team where we want it to be which is winning titles and winning things going forward.”

This weekend’s opponents Brighton & Hove Albion are in great form having recently beaten both Arsenal and Manchester City. Skinner expressed the need for his side to attack the Sussex club and cause them defensive problems.

He said “If you look at the start of the Man City game, Man City probably should have been 3-0 up with the chances that they created.

“What Brighton have done fantastically well is to get over the hump at the start of the game and to bring it back to win the game in incredible fashion. They were excellent in the Arsenal game and they’ve obviously got an FA Cup semi-final against Liverpool coming up. There’s a lot of growth from them.

“What’s really important is that we get the performance from us. Going into the game, we have to be at that level where we are attacking and putting Brighton on the back-foot. If we do that, we can win the game.”

Winger Leah Galton could play at the Leigh Sports Village for one final time before leaving Manchester United in the summer and Skinner paid tribute to the player.

He said “She has made a massive impact on this club and forever she will be welcomed back with her family because she has left a legacy here. I hope she goes on to do what she wants to do and finishes her career in the way she wants to. She’s been incredible and I want to thank her from the bottom of my heart.”

Manchester United’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion kicks-off at 12pm on Saturday afternoon.
