The source confirms the club’s desire to sign at least two new midfielders, while naming the usual suspects,  Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba, and Adam Wharton as transfer targets, in addition to Wolves’ Joao Gomes.

Nevertheless, Sky also reckoned that United are planning to add a left-back to the fold, as well as a right-footed left winger.

Man Utd aim to secure a swift deal for Yan Diomande

The report confirmed Man Utd’s desire to sign Diomande, whom they consider a perfect fit for the profile they’re seeking on the wings.

The 19-year-old joined Leipzig last summer following a brief yet memorable stint at Leganes. The Ivorian has already cemented himself as one of the standout performers in the Bundesliga this season. The ‘unstoppable’ player contributed with 11 goals and eight assists in 29 appearances in all competitions.

Therefore, Sky believes United will try to close the deal with the German club as early as possible to anticipate the competition, especially ahead of the World Cup, which can always have an effect on the players’ valuations.

But even prior to the global summer tournament, Leipzig have already set a hefty price at, requesting €100 million (circa £86m) for Diomande’s services, as revealed by trusted German journalist, Christian Falk.

The good news for Man Utd is that the teenager’s large value has repelled Bayern Munich, also according to Falk.

Man Utd also keeping tabs on Everton star Ilman Ndiaye

While it remains to be seen if MUFC will be able to strike a deal with Leipzig for Diomande, Jason Wilcox and Christopher Vivell continue to monitor alternative paths, and one of them could lead to Everton’s Ilman Ndiaye.

The 26-year-old winger has been plying his trade at Merseyside since making the move from Olympique Marseille in 2024. Many feel that the Senegalese international is now ready to make a notable step-up in his career.

While Ndiaye has registered solid stats this season, Diomande has outshone him in every metric. Nevertheless, it should be taken into consideration that the teenager is playing for one of the best clubs in the Bundesliga, while the Senegalese features for a mid-table Premier League side under the guidance of David Moyes, who prioritises tactical organisation and low-block defending over fluid football.

Nevertheless, Diomande’s incredible numbers show why he’s so highly-regarded and coveted among Europe’s elite.
