Chelsea are prepared to consider offers for Filip Jorgensen this summer after the goalkeeper informed the club he wants to leave due to limited opportunities at Stamford Bridge, according to Sky Sports.

Jorgensen arrived from Villarreal in a £20.7m move during the summer of 2024, but regular Premier League football has remained elusive. Only 11 of his 36 appearances came in the league, with Robert Sanchez continuing as Chelsea’s preferred option between the posts.
The Denmark international is now seeking greater consistency in his career. At 24, there is a growing sense that regular starts are needed to continue his development at senior level.

Chelsea were unwilling to sanction an exit during the January window despite interest from clubs in England and overseas. That position has softened ahead of the new campaign.
Importantly, Sky Sports report Chelsea do not intend to sign a replacement if Jorgensen departs. The return of Mike Penders from Strasbourg appears central to that thinking.
Chelsea hold significant belief in the Belgian goalkeeper, whose performances in Ligue 1 earned recognition at international level and a place in Belgium’s World Cup squad.

There is now an opportunity for Penders to compete directly within Chelsea’s senior setup next season, while Jorgensen searches for the first choice role he has struggled to secure in west London.
Filip Jorgensen never truly received an extended opportunity to establish himself as the club’s long term number one. Goalkeepers often need rhythm and confidence, especially in high pressure environments like Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea fans will understand why the player wants to move. Sitting behind Robert Sanchez for most of the season limits progression, particularly for a goalkeeper still developing his authority and consistency at elite level. Supporters tend to respect players who want responsibility rather than comfort.
There will also be intrigue surrounding Mike Penders. Chelsea fans have heard strong reports from Strasbourg about his performances, composure and maturity. His inclusion in Belgium’s World Cup squad has only increased excitement around his potential.
The bigger conversation among supporters concerns Chelsea’s wider recruitment strategy. Spending over £20m on a goalkeeper who could leave after a limited role inevitably raises questions about planning and squad structure. Fans want clearer pathways and smarter integration of young talent.
Still, many supporters may view this as a practical decision for all parties. Jorgensen gets the chance to rebuild momentum elsewhere, while Chelsea continue investing in another highly rated young goalkeeper with long term upside.
