Estevao had interest from a number of Europe’s top clubs, but chose to join Chelsea for one main reason according to Sky Sports.

The Blues agreed a fee with Palmerias worth an initial £29m in the summer of 2024, and the 18-year-old finally joined after the Club World Cup.

Estevao has made a brilliant start to life in England, and has scored five goals in all competitions, including three in the Champions League.

Why Estevao chose to join Chelsea

Estevao scored a superb goal against Barcelona as he outshone Lamine Yamal on Tuesday night, and the sky really is the limit for the teenager.

The Brazil international has already established himself as a fan favourite, and Enzo Maresca has admitted he feels lucky to manage Estevao.

Estevao is another example of Chelsea’s recruitment strategy of signing the best young players from around the world.

The Blues beat off competition from a number of Europe’s top clubs, and Sky Sports have reported the youngster chose to join Chelsea because he believed in the project.

The report adds he wanted to live in London and play in the Premier League, and despite interest from the likes of PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona, it was Chelsea who wanted him most.

It’s also believed Chelsea chose to sign Estevao over Endrick, who ended up going to Real Madrid where things haven’t worked out for him so far.
