Barcelona and Athletic Club met in the second Supercopa de España Iberdrola semi-final at SkyFi Castalia, where the rain relented and the atmosphere lifted for a marquee night.

The lower tiers were almost full and the central preference stand also drew supporters. The federation announced that a minute’s silence would be observed this week for victims in Adamuz, Córdoba, and Gelida, Barcelona, and the stadium complied.

Barça’s following arrived in numbers in shirts and scarves, singing the club anthem with pride. Athletic fans were present and vocal, though clearly outnumbered.

Earlier, Barcelona’s players stretched their legs with a morning stroll in Benicàssim, around the Voramar area, taking in the scenery despite recent showers.

The Fan Zone opens from Thursday after the city council delayed it in mourning for the Adamuz rail accident. In Plaza Mayor, activities run Thursday to Saturday from 11.00 to 14.00 and 16.30 to 19.00, with a stage hosting DJs.

On Saturday, Plaza Teodoro Izquierdo will offer leisure activities from 15.00 to 19.00. On Friday, Teatro de El Raval stages the Jornada Supercampeonas, an open event featuring Sonia Bermúdez.

The competition’s main social cause is the fight against childhood cancer through Goles contra el cáncer infantil. Vega, a child who has overcome the disease, accompanies the match officials before kick-off as the face of the campaign.
