The derby between Slavia Prague and Sparta Prague was called off after hundreds of home supporters stormed the pitch in the closing minutes at the Fortuna Stadium.

Slavia entered the home fixture knowing victory would secure the league title. They were leading 3-2 with minutes remaining, but that’s when the game descended into utter chaos.

Hundreds of Slavia supporters stormed the pitch after breaching security barriers in crazy scenes inside the stadium.

Many people carried lit flares and threw them on the field. Some went to the away section and rained pyrotechnics towards their rival fans.

Players desperately scrambled towards the tunnel to safety.

Sparta goalkeeper Jakub Surovcik was struck by a flare, and he later posted on social media to slam the behaviour of the home supporters.

The referee initially suspended the game, but was ultimately forced to abandon it.

The away side left the stadium shortly afterwards on the team bus, and the Czech police restored order.

Slavia and Sparta are two of the most successful clubs in Czechia. The two sides also share the most prominent rivalry in Czech football.

The Red and Whites are on course to defend the league crown as they boast a healthy lead over Sparta at the top of the table.
