Carlos Soler was a standout for Real Sociedad after arriving from Paris Saint Germain last summer, ending his first campaign once again a Copa del Rey champion. The 29-year-old midfielder became a mainstay despite a gruelling year for the squad.
He started the final, played 120 minutes, then converted in the shootout. The player said in a post that the season was unforgettable. He noted there is room to improve and an ambition not to settle, and added that he has found more than a club, a home where he can be happy.
He also became father to a son born in San Sebastián, rounding off a year in which he was consistently important.
Soler finished as the fourth most-used outfield player, behind Aramburu, Sergio Gómez and Oyarzabal, reflecting the trust of the three coaches who led Real Sociedad this season.
He totalled 40 appearances, four goals, three assists and 2,883 minutes. He signed off by thanking supporters and looking ahead to achieve more.
