Tottenham Hotspur head coach Thomas Frank has all but confirmed Brennan Johnson’s imminent move to Crystal Palace.

The 24-year-old has struggled for minutes this season, although he has only failed to feature in three of Tottenham’s 18 Premier League games so far.

Johnson has made 15 appearances in the league but has only been named in the Tottenham starting line-up six times, sparking serious speculation about his long-term future.

But that looks to have been decided, with David Ornstein claiming a move across London is on the cards.

Tottenham have reportedly agreed a £35 million deal that will see Johnson move to Crystal Palace once the winter transfer window opens.

Club-to-club agreement is already in place, but Johnson has yet to decide on the move to Selhurst Park, although talks are ongoing between all parties.

Frank was quizzed about the ongoing negotiations during his pre-match press conference.

The Danish manager didn’t confirm that a deal was in the works but hinted that Johnson could be on the move in the coming weeks.

“Brennan is a very important player for us,” Frank said. “Sometimes things change if another player comes in. Unfortunately, [Mohammed] Kudus came in, played on the right side and did well.

“So it has been a little bit more tricky [for Johnson] to get enough starts. He also started the season quite well on the left.

“He has a lot of attributes. Very good running in behind. Scoring goals is a good quality. Some of those key things are fantastic. Also working hard for the team.

“But you need more than 11 players – that’s the way it is. Brennan has been a top professional. He is a top professional. He has trained very well today, and he is ready for Thursday.

“There are rumours out there, but in general, I won’t comment on that.

“No matter if we want to sign or sell a player, get a staff member in or out, I have no interest in commenting either way.”

Frank is gearing up to return to his old stomping ground and will demand more of the same from his side after claiming a narrow 1-0 win over Palace last weekend.
