Manchester City are operating on a whole level above Chelsea in the transfer market these days, that’s the unfortunate truth.

They have more money, more pull, and more to offer players. Just look at what they did in January, strengthening by hoovering up two top Premier League operators while Chelsea just shuffled some loans around.

Trying to compete with them for their top targets is almost impossible – we just have to sit around and hope for the scraps. That’s why there are no real links between Chelsea and Elliot Anderson so far. City want him, and we’re all waiting to see if they get him.

All that affects their interest in Enzo Fernandez. A Daily Mail piece today claims City sources have told them they are “not looking to pursue a deal” for the midfielder, with “full focus” on Anderson.

If that move breaks down (which it readily could given how much Nottingham Forest are asking for), things could change. Until then, we’re stuck in limbo.
