Liverpool have reportedly set their sights on signing Barcelona defender Alejandro Balde in the summer.

According to a report from Fichajes, the English club has identified the Barcelona left-back as a potential target ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

The development comes at an interesting moment for the Catalan club, as recent reports suggest that Balde may no longer be considered completely untouchable within the squad.

The young defender, who emerged from Barcelona’s famous La Masia, still has a contract with the club until 2028.

However, the club’s leadership is believed to be open to considering offers if the financial conditions are right.

So what now?

Balde has become an attractive figure in the transfer market thanks to his rapid development and international recognition.

The Spanish international is widely regarded as one of the most promising full-backs of his generation, combining pace, attacking ability, and defensive awareness.

For Barcelona, though, the financial aspect of the deal is also an important factor.

Reports suggest that the club would be willing to negotiate the defender’s departure for around €60 million.

Such a transfer would give a significant financial boost to the club, especially given the ongoing pressure surrounding the club’s salary structure and financial management.

Liverpool need a new player

From Liverpool’s perspective, the interest in Balde is closely linked to the future of Andrew Robertson.

The experienced left-back has been one of the most important players at Anfield over the past several seasons.

However, Robertson’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, creating uncertainty around the left-back position.

As a result, Balde fits the profile Liverpool are looking for. At just 22 years old, he represents a long-term investment who could develop into one of the top full-backs in European football.

The Premier League club also want to move early in the transfer race, as they plan to avoid waiting until the final stages of the transfer window, where bidding wars often push prices significantly higher.
