Manchester City have a strong interest in Newcastle United full-back Tino Livramento, but could face competition from Arsenal and Manchester United for his signature.
Newcastle don’t want to sell Livramento, but clubs are expected to test the Magpies’ resolve, either in January or next summer, as first reported here for the Daily Briefing.
Sources in the industry have informed me that Livramento doesn’t currently look like trying to force his way out of St James’ Park, but he’s clearly going to have tempting suitors coming in for him.
“City would love to sign Livramento in January,” one source told me. “That currently looks unlikely, but it could be a major saga next summer, when we can also expect United and Arsenal to come into the conversation.”

Livramento has long looked like an exciting talent, dating back to his days as a youngster at Chelsea.
The 23-year-old, now a full England international, didn’t get many chances at Stamford Bridge, but he’s shone at Newcastle and he looks like he could go to the very top.
Capable of playing both right-back and left-back to a high standard, Livramento probably looks like he’d be most useful as a right-back for the clubs mentioned.
City’s need for a new right-back is pretty clear, with Matheus Nunes playing out of position there for some time.
Although the Portuguese midfielder has done quite well in that role, Livramento would surely be an upgrade in Pep Guardiola’s squad.
Elsewhere, United could do well to bring in an upgrade on Diogo Dalot, with Livramento’s qualities making him an ideal fit for Ruben Amorim’s system with wing-backs.
Finally, Arsenal already have Jurrien Timber and Ben White in that position, but it remains to be seen if Livramento could really get ahead of either of them in the pecking order.
