Coventry City and Southampton are goalless at half-time, with Daniel Peretz producing the standout save to keep it level. Chances came at both ends in a lively opening period.
As reported by Sainstmarching.com, Léo Scienza and Ross Stewart were unavailable through injury, and Tonda Eckert set up with five across midfield, Cameron Bragg holding.
Inside 10 minutes, a rehearsed free-kick found Kuryu Matsuki unmarked beyond the far post. He nodded back across goal for Cyle Larin, whose chest control was neat but his shot slipped just wide of the left post.
Ephron Mason-Clark repeatedly troubled Southampton down the left, forcing James Bree and Matsuki into diligent defensive work. A swift counter almost released Larin, yet covering defenders shut him down as he cut in from the right.
From a short corner, Luke Woolfenden climbed above Jack Stephens but could only direct a weak header wide. Peretz then flew left to palm Liam Kitching’s powerful header away a couple of minutes before the break. In added time Mason-Clark picked out Haji Wright on the penalty spot, who volleyed wide with Peretz stranded, leaving it 0-0 at half-time.
