According to reports in Germany, Southampton is interested in signing Bayern Munich goalkeeper Daniel Peretz. However, they face competition from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Now that Southampton will be relegated to the Championship next season, there will be key changes to the lineup that fans have become used to. One of those players who will surely be on the way out is England international and former Arsenal star, Aaron Ramsdale.

The superb shot-stopper made his anticipated move from the Emirates Stadium last summer, after being replaced between the sticks by David Raya a season prior. With some big names thrown around, many people were surprised to see him join Southampton.

Now, while he's humble and doesn't view himself as above the Championship, Aaron Ramsdale is frankly a cut above. He deserves better than the second tier of English football, so he will be due a move away this summer.

Where he moves is a different story, but Southampton has a replacement in mind. According to Sky Germany, the Saints are interested in signing Daniel Peretz, but they have two conditions going against them.

Firstly, Daniel Peretz would prefer a loan move (presumably because he sees his future at Bayern Munich), so Southampton would need a longer-term option. Secondly, Peretz would prefer to remain in the Bundesliga next season.

And, as another big blow to the Saints, there is a Bundesliga option presenting itself for Peretz as it stands. Eintracht Frankfurt are already in talks to sign him, as their main option Kauã Santos is out injured. It remains to be seen, but we'd hazard a guess that Peretz would prefer Frankfurt over Southampton.

Still, it's nice to see that the Saints are ambitious. We complain a lot about the club's lack of ambition or direction, and rightly so, but as the old saying goes, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. There's no harm in us trying to sign players from big clubs.
