According to Sainstmarching.com, Southampton have cut Middlesbrough’s away allocation to 2,000 for the play-off semi-final second leg at St Mary’s.
The tie at St Mary’s is on Tuesday, May 12. The away section will be about two-thirds full, the remainder not released, with new permanent barriers in the Kingsland/Chapel corner.
Boro also reduced Saints’ allocation for the first leg, a common tactic at this stage of the season. In 2024 West Bromwich Albion and Southampton made similar choices across their two legs.
The approach limits visiting support and keeps the emphasis on home backing rather than monetising roughly 1,000 extra seats.
Tickets were snapped up on Wednesday afternoon, even before the general sale window, confirming a sell-out and reflecting the size of the club’s season-ticket and membership base.
Supporters are planning a pre-match welcome at the Ted Bates statue. A similar reception last season was warmly received by players and staff.
Fans will hope this is not the final outing of the campaign, with Wembley on 23 May in their sights for what would be a third trip in three seasons. Facing a Middlesbrough side capable of high levels means nothing is guaranteed, and the home crowd aim to act as a twelfth player.
