Southampton midfielder, Caspar Jander is reportedly keen on a move away from the Saints this summer after the club were kicked out of the play-offs.

Southampton's season has come to an abrupt end, with the club's spygate scandal meaning they've missed out on the chance to win promotion into the Premier League.

The Saints were the form team heading into this year's Championship play-offs, and originally booked their spot in the play-off final after beating Middlesbrough over two legs.

However, there was well-publicised coverage that a Southampton staff member had spied on a Middlesbrough training session before their clash with Southampton took place.

Southampton went on to win the tie against Boro, but there remained questions as to whether they would keep their spot in the final at Wembley.

The fears from the club's supporters were soon realised, as the EFL announced that Southampton were expelled from the Championship play-offs, and that Middlesbrough would take their place instead.

Boro will now take on Hull City for a place in the Premier League next season, much to the frustration of the St Mary's faithful, as well as the Southampton players - some of which may now be eyeing top flight moves.

It had previously been reported that some Southampton players were considering legal action against the club after the EFL's decision over the spygate saga, and it appears as though one player is keen on a swift exit away from St Mary's.

And BILD Stuttgart report that Caspar Jander wants to leave the club after the Saints missed out on promotion into the Premier League, and it's claimed that there are a number of German clubs that are interested in a deal to sign the midfielder.

Jander has been with the club since the summer of 2025, having joined in a £10 million-plus deal from Nurnberg, and he appeared 44 times for the Saints in the 2025/26 season, which ended in a hugely frustrating manner.

The midfielder chipped in with two goals and two assists for the Saints, and he would have been relishing the opportunity to potentially play his football in the Premier League next season.

It's set to be an intriguing summer transfer window at Southampton, as missing out on the Premier League could see some players head for the exit door. Jander is the first to seemingly voice his frustrations, and it wouldn't be at all surprising to see others potentially follow the same route.

The report from BILD Stuttgart also claims that Jander's former club, 1. FC Nürnberg would miss out on €1m in bonuses after Southampton missed out on promotion, and given the circumstances of their expulsion from the Championship play-offs, they'll certainly feel frustrated.

Jander has caught the eye for all the right reasons this season, and it's not clear as to what finances would be involved in any potential deal in the next few months.

He's reportedly keen on a swift exit from the club, and Southampton could be faced with a difficult situation in the near future, as it's unlikely that Jander will be the only looking at options elsewhere.
