Southampton leapfrogged Wrexham into sixth in the Championship with a commanding 5-1 victory at the Racecourse Ground.

Kuryu Matsuki and Flynn Downes put the Saints ahead inside 22 minutes, dominating from the outset.

Wrexham, slow to settle, pulled one back through Josh Windass midway through the first half, but Southampton quickly regained control. Cyle Larin’s clever strike after the hour mark restored the two-goal cushion. Ross Stewart and Finn Azaz added late goals to seal a fifth successive win for the Saints, extending their unbeaten league run to 13 games.

The result moves Southampton two points clear of Wrexham, who drop to seventh, with the Saints holding a game in hand over their top-six rivals.
