A concerning update on the wellbeing of Barcelona and Spain star Lamine Yamal has come to the fore on Monday evening.
This comes amid the understanding that the 18-year-old could be forced to sit out both of his country’s first two fixtures at the upcoming World Cup.
Wide-man Lamine is of course condemned to a spell on the sidelines at present.
En route to a Barcelona La Liga victory over Celta Vigo last month, the youngster suffered a hamstring injury which has kept him out of action since.
The hope was that sitting out the final weeks of the club campaign would see Lamine declared fit for Spain’s opener at the fast-approaching World Cup.
As alluded to above, however, if the latest word stemming from the media this week is anything to go by, then this will not be the case.
As per a report from The Athletic:
‘Yamal is set to be sidelined for Spain’s World Cup group stage opener against Cape Verde on June 15, and at this stage is a major doubt for their second match against Saudi Arabia on June 21, according to sources with knowledge of his recovery.’
