Lamine Yamal and Spain end 2025 at the top of the FIFA rankings after a largely unchanged final update. According to L'Équipe, Argentina are second and France third, with Morocco 11th as Africa's highest-placed side.

Published on Monday by FIFA, the list caps a year in which Argentina moved ahead of France in October. England are fourth and Brazil fifth.

Spain are the reigning European champions and are strong contenders for a second World Cup title after 2010 in a few months.

Morocco sit between Croatia and Italy. The Africa Cup of Nations runs from 21 December to 18 January, with Senegal 19th and Algeria up to 34th, pushing Egypt to 35th.

Nigeria are 38th, Tunisia drop to 41st, just ahead of Ivory Coast in 42nd. The biggest rise concerns Vietnam, up from 110th to 107th, and Singapore, now 148th. Malaysia fall five to 121st, while San Marino remain 210th.
