Spain will play their second World Cup final after beating France, matching a 37-game unbeaten run, 28 wins and 9 draws, the longest by a European national team. They could set a world record in the final against the winner of Argentina-England and add a second star.

Mikel Oyarzabal opened the scoring, his fifth of the tournament. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the squad fly from Dallas to New York/New Jersey at 17:00 on Wednesday on a rest and recovery day.

Captain Rodri called it their most complete display, saying Spain nullified France and the bench impressed. He urged rest and recovery for what he described as the biggest match of their lives.

Kylian Mbappé accepted Spain controlled the rhythm, said France were often three against two in midfield and that early passes after regains fell short of semi-final standard. He spoke of huge disappointment, then of the need to recover.

Lamine Yamal and Pedro Porro finished with muscle tightness and knocks after heavy attention on the winger, yet Luis de la Fuente downplayed concern, noting there are days to heal. Porro, player of the match after his second of the World Cup, said it felt like a dream and that he was spent.

De la Fuente told his players they might face the best individuals, but that Spain were the best team, praising how they made the difficult look simple. He called reaching the final a responsibility and a luxury, with one step still to take.
