After a tense 1-0 victory in the Round of 16 against Portugal, Spain have set a new World Cup record.
La Roja have become the first-ever side to keep six consecutive clean-sheets in the men's World Cup, dating back to a 0-0 draw (and eventual loss on penalties) against Morocco in 2022.
The win also extends Unai Simón's personal streak, taking the 29-year-old goalkeeper to 609 minutes played since he last conceded in the World Cup, another tournament record.
Simon's streak goes all the way back to 2022, when Spain lost 2-1 in their final group stage match against Japan.
Since then, the Spanish keeper has been immense, making countless saves, including a few today against Cristiano Ronaldo.
After Spain's eye-catching attack took them to glory in EURO 2024, you have to wonder if it will be Simón's excellence that takes them to World Cup glory this summer...
