Spain have tightened their grip on world football, adding the men’s 2026 World Cup to a haul spanning the Euros, the Olympics and the women’s game.

On Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New York, La Roja beat Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the final. According to L'Équipe, the victory underlines a surge that has defined the early 2020s.

The men’s side lifted the Nations League in 2023, then won Euro 2024. They followed up by winning the Olympics at Paris 2024, before conquering the 2026 World Cup.

The women have been similarly relentless. They claimed the 2023 World Cup, then secured back-to-back Nations League titles in 2024 and 2025.

Only the 2025 Women’s Euro slipped away, lost to England on penalties after a 1-1 draw, 1-3 in the shootout.

At Paris 2024, the women’s team also missed the podium, beaten by Brazil in the semi-finals then by Germany in the bronze medal match.
