Inter Milan Goalkeeper involved in fatal road accident

A tragic road accident involving Inter Milan goalkeeper Josep Martinez has shaken Italian football.
The 27 year old Spaniard was reportedly involved in collision on Tuesday morning resulting in the death of 81 year old man near the city of Como.
According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport & Corriere della Sera, the accident occurred around 9:40 am local time on Via Bergamo in the town of Venegono (Como province) as Martinez was driving to Inter’s training ground in Appiano Gentile.
The victim who was travelling in an electric wheelchair is believed to have suffered medical episode just moments before the collision preventing him from avoiding oncoming traffic.
Witnesses said Martinez immediately stopped his car and attempted to provide first aid while emergency services arrived quickly at the scene.
Despite the swift response, the man was pronounced dead on site. Local police have opened investigation to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
Inter Milan's response to the psychological trauma suffered by the player according to multiple reports, was to cancel the press conference scheduled for Tuesday and coach Cristian Chivu allowed the players and technical staff to discuss the incident privately.
