Zinedine Zidane played some of the finest football of his career at Juventus and believes the Bianconeri were the club where he truly established himself as a top player.
Juventus signed Zidane from Bordeaux after winning the Champions League in 1996. He developed rapidly in Turin and went on to become France’s leading figure during the 1998 World Cup, helping the host nation win the tournament.
The Frenchman later joined Real Madrid, where he continued to enhance his reputation before ending his playing career after the 2006 World Cup final. France lost to Italy in Berlin, while Zidane was sent off after reacting to a provocation from Marco Materazzi.
Zidane has since enjoyed a highly successful managerial career. He won the Champions League several times as Real Madrid’s head coach and now manages the France national team, a role that represents a dream appointment for him.
A future return to Juventus as manager cannot be ruled out, although there is no certainty that such an opportunity will arise. What is beyond doubt is the importance of his time in Turin and the influence it had on his development.
Speaking as quoted by Tuttomercatoweb, Zidane reflected on the lasting attention surrounding the 2006 final while emphasising the positive memories from his career.
“2006? The images always remind me of it, they’re broadcast everywhere all the time (smiles). I think more about the positive memories. Juve was a special place for me, that’s where I became an important player.”

Zidane’s comments underline how significant Juventus were to his career. Although he later achieved legendary status at Real Madrid, his time with the Bianconeri helped transform him from a highly talented midfielder into one of the world’s most influential players.
His performances in Turin also laid the foundation for his success with France. Just two years after joining Juventus, Zidane scored twice in the 1998 World Cup final as France defeated Brazil.
For Juventus supporters, Zidane remains one of the most gifted players ever to wear the club’s shirt. His admiration for the Bianconeri has kept alive the possibility of a future return, this time as a coach.
