Leonardo Spinazzola hints that Fiorentina are interested in signing him in January, but he’s not surprised Napoli are at the top of the Serie A table.

Napoli left-back Spinazzola appears to confirm that today’s opponents, Fiorentina, are interested in securing his signature in the winter transfer window.

The Italian defender joined Napoli on a free transfer last summer but has been struggling with playing time under Antonio Conte in the first part of the season.

“Surely, one can’t be happy when he doesn’t play, and I’m certainly very happy today,” Spinazzola said at a press conference attended by Football Italia.

“Some things can change from one moment to another, and my head is set on Napoli, then we’ll see.”

Spinazzola was explicitly asked if Fiorentina are interested in him following recent reports.

“I’ve read many things, as usual. It’s a rumour after another,” he replied.

“Interest? It may be true, but I’ll only focus on Napoli until I’m here.”

Spinazzola sent his condolences to the family of Daniele, a kid and Napoli fan who died today due to illness.

“A big hug to Daniele’s family on behalf of the team,” said the defender.

“We’ll miss him so much; he taught us so many things. He gave us a lot of strength. We send a big hug to the family.”

Napoli beat Fiorentina 3-0 at the Stadio Franchi today, jumping to the top of the Serie A table while waiting for Atalanta and Inter to play their games in hand.

Spinazzola admitted that he expected Napoli to be the table leader at this point of the campaign.

“Yes. Because we work hard every day with the coach,” he said.

“I expected all this because we are strong, and there is much work behind this.

“We’ve always been self-confident. We are a complete team even without big players [the injured Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Matteo Politano]. Everyone works hard every day, and we always try to be ready. There is great unity; we understand each moment and our roles.

“I believe we’ll be there [in the title race] until the end, but it’s still very early, and everything can change. Anything can happen, and there must be a reason if Inter, Atalanta, and we are there.”
