Sporting CP beat Gil Vicente 3-0 at Estádio José Alvalade to close their Liga Portugal campaign in second place and secure Champions League qualification.

Eduardo Quaresma headed in from Pedro Gonçalves's corner in the 15th minute, before Luis Suárez swept home to double the lead (34.).

After the restart, Rui Silva tipped away a long-range effort from Luís Esteves as Gil Vicente searched for a response.

Substitute Geovany Quenda arrived to good effect (73.), sliding a pass for Morten Hjulmand to finish low in the third minute of second half stoppage time.

Leões controlled 61.9% possession and registered 15 attempts, with five on target. Gil Vicente produced 10 attempts but found the target only once.

Suárez is now on 28 league goals, top of the Liga Portugal scoring chart. Leões turn to Torreense in the Taça de Portugal final next. Gil Vicente finish sixth.
