The North Londoners are keen on the Portuguese international as manager Roberto De Zerbi seeks a creative presence capable of making things happen at the top end of the pitch.
Trincao’s career has enjoyed a resurgence since his return to Portugal, where he has established himself as a key attacking figure at Estadio Jose Alvalade.
The ‘incredible’ 26-year-old forward delivered an impressive campaign last season, recording 11 goals and 15 assists in 50 matches across all competitions.
Renowned for his spatial awareness and press-resistant close control, the left-footed attacker has attracted significant interest throughout Europe, and his previous loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers gives him valuable experience in English football.
However, completing a deal will require Tottenham to move swiftly due to fierce market competition. Manchester City are also reportedly interested, but a major obstacle comes from the Saudi Pro League.
Financial heavyweights Al-Ahli are in advanced negotiations to sign Trincao as a marquee replacement for Riyad Mahrez, having tabled a lucrative offer worth around €50 million.
Sporting CP are protected by Trincao’s long-term contract, which runs until June 2030 and includes a €60 million release clause.
While the Lisbon club are tempted by Al-Ahli’s offer, Tottenham will hope the appeal of Premier League football strengthens their position should they formalise their interest.
Now back from the World Cup following Portugal’s last-16 exit to Spain, Trincao’s future is expected to be resolved in the coming days.
