Igor Tudor described Thursday night's 3-1 defeat against Palace in the Premier League as ‘two games’ – one before Micky van de Ven’s red card, one after.
However, he spoke positively afterwards, insisting: “I believe we can do it, even more than before this game.”
Dominic Solanke gave us the lead on 34 minutes after fine work from Archie Gray, spinning away from Tyrick Mitchell and Adam Wharton on the right byline before finding Solanke’s dart between defenders to finish.
Our joy was short lived, however, as van de Ven was dismissed for pulling back Ismaila Sarr as he went through on goal. Sarr converted the penalty and from 1-0 up, we were level and down to 10 men. Momentum was with the visitors, and they made the most of it with further goals from Jorgen Strand Larsen and Sarr’s second for 3-1 before half-time.
That’s how it stayed at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Igor said he was pleased with how the players stuck to their task in the second half.
He told us: “We’re disappointed because of the defeat. It was totally two games - until the red card and after the red card, which changed everything. So, second half we tried to do it. We pushed, I saw something, I saw the wish to do it. Fortunately, it was not enough.
“We need to stay calm and believe more than ever. I believe. I believe we can do it, even more than before this game. So, what I said before, we just stay on the boat, we just go in that direction, who wants to go, who wants to be there, can be there. I'm sure that we'll be good.
“Now, we have this Champions League game. We need to prepare in the best possible way, waiting for the other players to come back, choosing the right people, the right players, that's the most important thing.”
The first leg of our UCL Round of 16 tie against Atletico Madrid is next up in Spain on Tuesday evening (8pm UK).
