Spurs coach Bruno Saltor says boss Igor Tudor took Djed Spence and Micky van de Ven off at half time for tactical reasons in the 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.
Tottenham’s relegation worries worsened as they were beaten heavily at home by Forest, who moved above Spurs with the victory.
Tudor did not take the press conference due to an urgent family matter, Spurs say, with Bruno instead stepping in.
“No, it was a sub with the intention to be more dynamic down the left side and have more legs going forward,” he responded when asked if van de Ven was carrying an injury,
“Everything was tactical. It was a tactical sub.”
On Tudor’s situation, he responded: “It’s a personal family issue and obviously it’s a difficult moment for him. We’re just trying to support him the best way we can.”

Meanwhile, Bruno also confirmed that Mathys Tel is being assessed after going off injured in the second half.
“We are still assessing him to see if he can go with the national team,” he said.
The defeat leaves Spurs still just a point outside the relegation zone but Bruno says he is confident they will be given more time to turn things around.
“We feel the support from everyone at the club and we’re just focusing on how we can help the players,” he said.
