As per their report on the matter, Spurs are considering moves to strengthen their attack, and Kubo has emerged as a priority target. They say that the Japanese international is valued at £50 million due to his release clause with the Basque side, and that Liverpool and Bayern Munich are also beginning to show interest in his services.

So far this season, Kubo has scored three goals in 13 La Liga appearances, with nine of those being starts. He has also created three big chances in that time. The winger recorded 18 goals and assists in 44 games throughout all competitions in Spain last time out, with a perfect balance of nine goals and nine assists.

There is no doubt that Spurs have had issues when it comes to depth in wide areas. Brennan Johnson has been good in spells this season, but if he gets injured - there is currently nobody able to deputise that isn't being played out of position to do so. It is clear that the right hand side should be one of the positions addressed in the immediate couple of transfer windows.

Furthermore, Kubo would give Spurs some 1v1 ability that they often lack, particularly against teams that sit in. The 23-year old would help Ange Postecoglu's side open the game up in the final third by taking players out of the game with his dribbling ability. His impact on the side would be for sure more than just goals and assists.

In a game against Atletico Madrid last month, the Sociedad winger recorded; 11/14 ground duels, 6/7 successful dribble attempts, three shots, three fouls drawn, and one big chance created. All of these attributes would help to improve Spurs hugely. Those duel numbers for someone only around 5'8, are seriously impressive.

This is Kubo's fifth season playing in La Liga, so he has plenty of experience under his belt, but at 23, he is also at an age where his best years are most certainly in front of him, and has scope to improve even further.

Of course, with Kubo having a contract until 2029, and a £50 million release clause - this will be a pretty tough operation, particularly with the way we all know that Daniel Levy works. Let's see in any case.
