Tottenham Hotspur are approaching a defining moment regarding Mikey Moore, with Rangers making no secret of their desire to extend the youngster’s stay at Ibrox. The 18 year old has enjoyed a productive loan spell in Glasgow, and his development now places Spurs at a crossroads as they consider the next step in his progression.

Rangers manager Danny Rohl has been open about his admiration for Moore, confirming that dialogue between the clubs is ongoing. Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: “Yeah, me as well. There’s no question. I think conversations are always there [with Tottenham], but we know when Mikey performs like this, you can see he enjoys playing for Rangers. The fans love him, I like him, he’s a key player. I think there’s a lot of good things where we could go again together. We know he’s still not our player, let’s work in the next couple of weeks in all those directions [to bring him back].”

Such clarity underlines Rangers’ intent. Moore has become embedded within Rohl’s system, offering attacking energy and composure that belies his age. His five goals in 38 appearances reflect steady output, though it is his overall influence that has stood out.
For Spurs, the situation is less straightforward. Moore remains one of the club’s most promising academy graduates, having progressed through youth ranks before breaking into the first team with 21 appearances and a goal to his name.

Loan moves of this nature are designed to accelerate growth, and Moore’s experience in a competitive environment such as the Scottish Premiership has delivered tangible benefits. Regular football, expectation from a demanding fanbase, and involvement in a title race have all contributed to his maturation.
Yet the question remains whether another season at Rangers would provide continued progression, or if integration into Tottenham’s senior setup would better serve his development.
Rohl’s comments also highlight the broader context of Rangers’ ambitions. He added: “Since I came to the club, Mikey is getting better and better. We started this week to prepare for the summer. I think we are in a good position, we are very clear what we want. I think it’s also helpful now that we have the idea of how I want to play football, committed with a fantastic owner, with the good people around me , everything goes in the right direction.”
He continued: “We work hard, we have again a good summer that we prepare for next season, but let’s finish this season strong and successful. The most important thing is that we bring good results in the next seven games. If we win the next seven games, we will win the league.”
With Rangers locked in a tight title race against Celtic and Hearts, maintaining stability within the squad will be crucial. Retaining Moore would offer continuity and preserve a key attacking option.
Spurs now face a familiar balancing act. Moore’s performances at Rangers have enhanced his reputation, but they have also increased the stakes of the decision ahead. Another loan could refine his game further, while a return to north London would test his readiness for Premier League football.
