Former Scottish U21 international Scott Banks is switching loan locales yet again. On Monday Banks’ Bundesliga club FC St. Pauli confirmed that the 24-year-old’s loan arrangement with Blackpool was terminated early. Banks will nevertheless spend the rest of the 2025/26 campaign in the English third division, rounding out the season at Barnsley.
Banks made 12 Bundesliga appearances for St. Pauli last season and registered one assist. After he impressed for Hamburg’s Kiezkicker in a pre-season friendly this summer, it appeared as if the former Crystal Palace man might get a shot at earning some minutes for his German club. St. Pauil were once sufficiently impressed with Banks to the extent that they paid Palace €400,000 to retain his services.
Banks struggled to accrue regular playing time with his last EFL League One outfit, but did score four goals for Blackpool in the EFL and FA Cup competitions. The versatile attacker’s estimated market value (€450,000) remains largely in line with what his Bundesliga outfit previously paid for him.
