Ibane Bowat settled the game in the 63rd minute with a left-footed finish from a corner, giving Portsmouth a 1-0 win over Leicester City at Fratton Park.
From a corner routine, he arrived unmarked to meet Adrian Segečić's cross and guided the ball into the bottom left (63.).
From there he fronted up defensively as the Foxes pushed on. He finished with six clearances and won three aerial duels, repeatedly relieving pressure in his own box.
His reading of second balls told too, with four possessions won and an interception that stalled the Foxes' late territory. The Scotland defender married that penalty area poise with the game's decisive touch at the other end.
Portsmouth rise from 19th to 18th in the Championship and visit Coventry City next. The Foxes host Hull next.
