According to Sunderland Echo, a WhoScored analysis has named Sunderland’s strongest starting XI based on average match ratings.
Sunderland have enjoyed an overwhelmingly positive Premier League return, recording memorable wins over Chelsea, Bournemouth and local rivals Newcastle United.
Few had predicted Regis Le Bris and his new-look squad would make such an impact after promotion via a Championship play-off final win against Sheffield United. A highly productive summer window laid the foundations.
The campaign has featured standout contributions from arrivals Granit Xhaka, Robin Roefs, Omar Alderete and Brian Brobbey.
Le Bris has favoured four-two-three-one in 19 of their 36 league games, and the 11 highest-rated players in those roles are: GK Robin Roefs 6.7, RB Nordi Mukiele 7.0, CB Dan Ballard 6.9, CB Omar Alderete 6.8, LB Reinildo Mandava 6.7, CM Granit Xhaka 6.9, CM Noah Sadiki 6.6, RW Chris Rigg 6.3, AMC Enzo Le Fee 6.8, LW Chemsdine Talbi 6.4 and ST Brian Brobbey 6.3.
