Inter Milan have shown two very different sides this season, with their attacking output heavily influenced by Lautaro Martinez.
According to L’Interista, El Toro’s commanding presence in the final third has been decisive for the Nerazzurri.
Cristian Chivu was unable to call upon his captain in three consecutive Serie A outings before March’s international break.
Ominously, the Nerazzurri failed to win all three matches, netting just under one goal per game on average.
Overall, Lautaro Martinez has missed five league fixtures in 2026, with Inter netting just six goals in that sequence.
El Toro marked his return from injury with a match-winning brace in a 5-2 rout of Roma last night. That’s as many goals as the Nerazzurri had scored in their six previous competitive games combined.
In doing so, the 28-year-old took his Serie A tally for the 2025/26 season to 16 goals, at least five more than any other player in the division.
Furthermore, Lautaro has had his hand in 31% of Inter’s league goals this term, highlighting his significance to Chivu’s tactical setup.
Meanwhile, Lautaro’s return also inspired Marcus Thuram’s resurgence, with the Frenchman tallying a goal and two assists after a five-game drought in Serie A.
