World Cup winner Steven Nzonzi, 37, has joined Ligue 2 side Dunkerque, the division’s marquee signing of the summer.
According to L'Équipe, the former France international will be one of this season’s curiosities as he embarks on a final challenge.
He earned 20 caps for France and played about half an hour in the 2018 World Cup final, a 4-2 win against Croatia.
Nzonzi has made 39 Champions League appearances and seven in the Europa League, including the 2016 final won 3-1 against Liverpool.
Across domestic leagues he has featured in 195 Premier League matches, 90 in La Liga, 30 in Serie A and 39 in Ligue 1.
Before retiring, he intends to take responsibility on the pitch, suggesting this campaign may be his last, or perhaps the penultimate.
