Palmeiras issued a public rebuke over recent decisions involving head coach Abel Ferreira, the STJD and the CBF.
The club said in a statement on Saturday 11 that it was deeply dissatisfied and had previously handled matters discreetly.
It contests Abel Ferreira’s judgement at the Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva, calling the sanction disproportionate, objecting to lip-reading without expert backing and the revival of past incidents already punished.
The tribunal’s refusal to grant efeito suspensivo, requested days earlier, also surprised the board. It argues that similar appeals are usually accepted to guarantee a full right of defence.
There are signs of unequal treatment, contrary to the principle of isonomia, and decisions deemed arbitrary could undermine the credibility of competitions. Holding one professional solely responsible for collective issues was likened to scapegoating.
The club said it expects the case to be reviewed in second instance with coherence.
Palmeiras also objected to the CBF’s choice to reschedule Fluminense v Flamengo, from Saturday 11 to Sunday 12, in the 11th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro after a Flamengo request. Without judging the plea, it questioned inconsistent criteria, noting that other clubs’ similar bids are often rejected.
With an already demanding calendar, it added that all teams face logistical difficulties and that administrative and disciplinary calls should be impartial and transparent to protect competitive balance.
