Strasbourg 0-0 Lorient ratings: Abergel bosses midfield, Enciso goes missing | OneFootball

Lorient took a point from Alsace as Strasbourg laboured for rhythm in a 0-0 at La Meinau, captain Laurent Abergel outstanding and Julio Enciso largely ineffective.

L'Équipe notes Lorient are five unbeaten, their best Ligue 1 sequence since September-October 2022.

Mike Penders denied Jean-Victor Makengo inside five minutes. Makengo headed inches wide on 17 before Yvon Mvogo tipped Ismaël Doukouré’s header that was creeping under the bar on 20. Penders then flew to repel Abergel’s 31st-minute rocket from range.

After the break Mvogo dealt with a dangerous Valentin Barco delivery on 48, and Abergel cut out another Barco centre with a defensive header on 58. Sebastian Nanasi headed off target on 60, then spoiled a counter by delaying his pass on 68.

Abergel, graded seven out of 10, bossed midfield, winning turnovers and balancing Lorient’s play. Penders, again impressive at both shot-stopping and distribution, appears increasingly at home in Rosenior’s system. Mvogo was assured under Panichelli’s press.

Enciso disappointed, often turning back and touching the ball only 18 times before the interval, a brief second-half lift fading before he made way for Kendry Paez on 75. Samir El-Mourabet’s early error on five set up a Lorient chance, he lost eight of 12 duels and departed on 82 for Abdoul Ouattara. Panichelli’s drought reached eight matches, with one effort on target from five attempts and only nine first-half touches.
