Strasbourg are to assess Chelsea and United States goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina as they look for a new number one.
According to L'Équipe, the 22-year-old is already in Alsace and will be evaluated over several weeks to see if he meets new RCSA head coach Hugo Oliveira's demands, particularly with his feet.
If he satisfies the staff, Strasbourg could take him on loan or sign him permanently. He joined Chelsea in 2022 from Chicago Fire and is contracted until 2028. The United States international, capped once in 2023, has had loans at Eupen and Barnsley.
After Djordje Petrovic then Mike Penders, Strasbourg's starting spot remains open. New Polish signing Milosz Piekutowski is not expected to be first choice.
Danish goalkeeper Filip Jörgensen, 24, also on Chelsea’s books, is being pushed towards the exit by the London club. He remains an option if Slonina does not convince Oliveira.
