Strasbourg’s Ismael Doukouré handed lengthy ban for Malick Fofana challenge | OneFootball

Ismael Doukouré has not been spared by the LFP’s disciplinary commission, with the RC Strasbourg Alsace player receiving a lengthy ban for his challenge on Malick Fofana. 

Fofana, the victim of the challenge, left the field on a stretcher, but his side ultimately prevailed thanks to a last-gasp winner for Olympique Lyonnais (2-1). Doukouré was initially not sent off for the challenge, but then was following a VAR review. Liam Rosenior initially criticised the decision to send off the player, stating that the gravity of the injury took precedence over the tackle itself.

When it was revealed that Fofana had suffered ligament damage and would miss several months of action, Rosenior rowed back on that comment and apologised. Rosenior will now have to do without Doukouré. 

The defender already missed the midweek win over AJ Auxerre. He will also miss this weekend’s game against Stade Rennais, the match against Lille OSC, and the match against RC Lens. In total, it represents a four-game ban.
