VfB Stuttgart rejected Bournemouth’s €40 million offer for Jamie Leweling in the winter. Sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth has since reflected on that decision.

“First and foremost, this shows that over the past three and a half years, we have become more financially independent and are able to turn down such offers, should they arise,” said Wohlgemuth. He was speaking to Sport Bild.

“Moreover, Jamie himself immediately positioned himself, defining VfB Stuttgart as the best sporting destination for him at the moment. This also marks a huge difference compared to the club’s status just two years ago.”

Leweling, 25, is a German winger.

He extended his contract in December 2024, committing to Stuttgart until 2029.
