Stuttgart confirm Nick Woltemade released from club duties to complete Newcastle United move | OneFootball

As the Champions League draw was concluding, news broke (see below) that Newcastle United had agreed a transfer fee to sign Nick Woltemade.

Sky Sports and The Mail revealing that a new club record fee had been agreed with Stuttgart for the striker.

With Nick Woltemade said to be expected to arrive in Newcastle on Friday to take his medical and complete the deal.

Now late on Thursday night, Stuttgart have confirmed that they have received an acceptable offer for their star striker and they have released him from club duties so that he can complete the move.

Although Stuttgart refer to it as ‘an offer from a European club’, I think that we can safely assume that they are referring to Newcastle United.

Stuttgart official announcement – 28 August 2025:

‘VfB has received an offer from a European club for an immediate transfer.

Shortly before the summer transfer window closed, VfB Stuttgart received an offer from a European club for an immediate transfer of Nick Woltemade.

The terms of this offer have prompted club officials to release Nick Woltemade from training and matchday duties in order to hold talks with the interested party about a potential transfer.

A decision on this is expected before the end of tomorrow, Friday.’

Newcastle United have agreed a deal to buy Nick Woltemade.

Both Keith Downie of Sky Sports and Craig Hope of The Mail reporting the breakthrough.

The Sky Sports reporter says that Nick Woltemade will arrive on Tyneside for his medical tomorrow (Friday 29 August 2025).

Both journalists reporting it as a new Newcastle United transfer record.

Sky Sports stating it is a £65m deal, with £60.5m guaranteed plus £4.5m add-ons.

Craig Hope at The Mail saying he understands it is even higher, around £75m.

Nick Woltemade scored 17 times for Stuttgart last season.

Whilst the 23 year old was also a real stand out player at this summer’s Under 21 Euros.

Woltemade finished top scorer in the finals with six goals.

The striker also has two senior caps for Germany and is seen as one of Europe’s most exciting young forwards.
