Sudakov reports back early at Benfica to impress Marco Silva | OneFootball

Georgiy Sudakov has reported back to the Benfica Campus ahead of schedule, aiming to impress new head coach Marco Silva.

The Ukrainian midfielder returned on his own initiative and has already completed an individual session. Record writes that Silva’s admiration for Sudakov was previously reported and later confirmed by the coach at his unveiling.

The Portuguese coach believes the international suits the playing model he wants to implement at Benfica and views him as capable of taking an important role.

With pre-season work imminent, Silva will now have the chance to assess him up close as preparations begin for the new campaign.

Sudakov is equally motivated, seeking to use the coaching change to regain prominence after a testing year. At 23, the number 10 is targeting a fresh start and is determined to reclaim his place in the squad.

Signed as a major investment, he did not fully meet expectations last season, with fitness issues, emotional fatigue and inconsistency limiting his impact and costing him minutes.
