Barcelona are poised for a financial boost in the summer transfer windows, as recent reports from SPORT indicate that the club could still earn over €20 million from various player sales and sell-on clauses.
This revenue stems from the club’s strategic policy of securing percentages from the future sales of players, particularly those developed at their renowned La Masia academy.
Over recent seasons, Barcelona have generated approximately €65 million from sales and percentages of players who, in many cases, did not even feature prominently for the first team. This smart approach is now yielding significant returns.
One notable example is the sale of Nico to Manchester City. Barcelona retained 20% of the capital gain from any future sale by the English club, alongside the €3 million they previously received from Porto for their share in the player’s rights.
This arrangement has already netted the club €13.3 million, adding to the €8 million Porto paid in the summer of 2023.
Additional funds have come from the sales of Unai Hernandez, Marc Guiu, Mikayil Faye, and Julian Araujo. However, further income is expected in future transfer windows.

For instance, West Ham’s agreement with Nice for Jean-Clair Todibo includes a mandatory purchase clause that will give Barcelona 20% of the fee, amounting to around €8 million.
Barcelona’s smart financial planning continues to bear fruit. They could have secured additional funds in January when Oscar Mingueza was linked to Aston Villa, who were ready to pay close to €20 million.
Though the transfer did not materialise, the potential remains for a move this summer, which would see Barcelona claim 50% of the fee.
Further financial opportunities include Estanis Pedrola’s loan to Bologna, with the Italian side having a €4 million purchase option. Barcelona retain 50% of any future sale.
Similarly, Mika Marmol’s transfer arrangement with UD Las Palmas allows Barcelona to claim half of a future sale, possibly yielding around €5 million.
Finally, Ilaix Moriba’s impressive season at Celta could trigger additional earnings for Barcelona. The club previously negotiated a 10% sell-on clause with Leipzig, who initially paid €16 million plus €6 million in variables.
In total, Barcelona could see over €20 million flowing into their coffers this summer, a testament to the club’s forward-thinking financial strategies and their ability to maximise returns from player development and transfers.
