In a recent report, A Bola mentioned that Sunderland are exploring a move for Sporting CP winger Geny Catamo this summer. It has been revealed that the Black Cats have initiated contact to acquire the services of the Mozambique wide player this off-season.

Catamo managed to catch the eye at times for Sporting in the previous campaign as he managed to produce a run of impressive displays for them in Liga Portugal. The 25-year-old registered eight goals and five assists in 47 matches for the Portuguese outfit last season in all competitions.

The Mozambique international is currently one of the most talented wingers in Liga Portugal. Therefore, it is no wonder that the Black Cats are trying to get him on board later this year.

Catamo is under contract at the Portuguese club until the summer of 2028, which could make it difficult for Sunderland to sign him on the cheap in this transfer window.

Should Sunderland Boss Regis Le Bris Snap Catamo Up This Summer?

Catamo is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with it out in the wide positions. He has the eye to play some decisive passes in and around the opponent’s penalty area and can shoot the ball with power from long range.

The Mozambique wing wizard can chip in by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for his team. Catamo is primarily a right-winger but can also function as a left-sided wide player if needed. However, only time will tell whether he can adapt to the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if the Black Cats end up recruiting him this summer.

We can expect Catamo to bring more firepower to Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris’ frontline. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting spot at the Stadium of Light next season.

At 25, Catamo has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the Wearside club to pursue in this transfer period. He will also help the Black Cats compete across all fronts in the coming years. Hence, Le Bris should focus on snapping Catamo up soon.
