In a recent report, journalist Fraser Fletcher claimed that Sunderland are in the running for Red Bull Salzburg winger Kerim Alajbegovic. It has been revealed that the Black Cats are in talks to sign the Bosnia international this off-season.

Alajbegovic’s Impressive Form In Austrian Football

Alajbegovic managed to catch the eye at times on the left side of RB Salzburg’s attack in the previous campaign. The 18-year-old featured in 44 matches for his current employers last season, scoring 13 times and earning four assists in the process across all fronts.

The Bosnian sensation is currently one of the most gifted young wingers in the Austrian Bundesliga. Therefore, it is no surprise that the Black Cats are hoping to get a deal done for him in this summer transfer window.

Alajbegovic is under contract at the Red Bull Arena until the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for Sunderland to land him on a cut-price deal later this year.

Sunderland Are In The Running For Alajbegovic: Is He A Star In The Making?

Alajbegovic is a good dribbler with the ball and can make a few driving runs with the ball out in the wide areas. He has got the vision to engineer some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third and can shoot the ball with power from long range.

The Bosnia international has already added a handful of goals and assists to his game. Alajbegovic is primarily a left-winger but can also function as an attacking midfielder or as a right-sided wide player if needed. However, only time will tell whether he can cope with the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League if the Black Cats manage to get a deal done for him in this summer transfer window.

Alajbegovic would improve the quality of Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris’ attacking department. He is good enough to compete for a regular starting spot at the Stadium of Light next season.

At 18, Alajbegovic has got a promising future ahead of him. He is undoubtedly a star in the making, so Le Bris would be wise to step up his pursuit of him in this summer transfer window.
