Sunderland have confirmed Nazariy Rusyn’s permanent departure to Ukrainian top-tier side Karpaty Lviv in a club statement. The forward has signed a four-year deal.
No fee was disclosed. Rusyn, aged 27, had one year left on his Sunderland contract and struggled for regular minutes after arriving in summer 2023. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Polish club Arka Gdynia.
Rusyn scored four league goals in 23 appearances for Arka. He played 32 times for Sunderland after joining in September 2023. The club thanked him for his efforts and wished him well.
The move will allow Rusyn to play regularly and helps Sunderland reduce their wage bill ahead of the new campaign.
Meanwhile, young left back Oli Bainbridge has joined National League side Boreham Wood following his Sunderland exit. Boreham Wood went close to promotion to the EFL last season.
