Sunderland confirm Timothée Pembélé’s permanent move to Le Havre | OneFootball

Sunderland have confirmed Timothée Pembélé has joined Le Havre on a permanent deal, ending his stint on Wearside.

The club said in a statement that the 23-year-old joined in September 2023 and played eight times. It added he had two loan spells at Le Havre, recording 35 Ligue 1 outings.

With regular minutes at Sunderland looking unlikely, the right back has opted to return to the French side. He initially struggled with injury and fitness during his time at the club.

No fee was disclosed, and Sunderland are unlikely to have recouped much, if any, of the sum they paid to sign him. The move offers the 23-year-old a fresh start and frees space on the wage bill.

His departure ends a three-year association with Sunderland, which began with a deadline-day move from PSG. The club also wished him well for the next steps of his career.
